Traditional Climbing @ Mt. Arapiles Australia

Mt. Arapiles, the trad. climbing mecca in Australia offering thousand and more natural climbs spread over cliffs around the Pines Campground. Definitely there is something for all level of climbers, absolutely awesome for climbing holidays! camping site is available at 2AUD/night and basic facilities are provided such as toilets and water tap (no shower). it's definitely a place for climbers that looking for budget accommodation while still have good climbing experience, and also for sport climbers those looking for something more adventurous and challenging.

for transportation, we rented a car from Airport for easy traveling in and out from the crags, stock up foods/drinks from nearest supermarket which takes around 45mins drive from the campground. to keep things light and budget,we just got our tent, portable camping stove, sleeping bag and some others basic camping gears on-board.
the nearest crags was just about 5mins walking distance and it has enough for your whole day excursion, i used to sport climb and that was a bit nervous about the grading there but thing was not too bad as i thought :) the rocks are sandstone with good features, the easiest grade i attempted was 5b on sport grade and it was pretty comfortable for me to place protections. you can have more focus of placing the protection rather than worried about the climb. having said that, there are many beautiful challenging routes for hardcore climbers too.

special notes for sport climber, there would not be any anchor at each pitch for lower off at most of the climbs. carry more slings and carabiners, build your own anchor at the top and belay second up, then walk off/down climb from the top back. some climb has rappel anchor that you can use to lower down directly. for more details, please refer Mt.Arapiles climbing guidebook or check out mines at our store.
